Using digital media for self-expression, communication and creativity is
a 21st century literacy. Much like makerspaces, Digital Media Labs
provide patrons with hands-on opportunities to build skills that can be
transferred to school and the workplace, but can also bring out aspiring
or seasoned hobbyists. In this webinar, two different librarians, Casey
Dees of Tom Green County Library (San Angelo, TX) and Kelly Brouillard
of Lewisville Public Library (Lewisville, TX), will discuss their library’s digital media lab.
Participants of this webinar will be able to describe what kinds of
software and hardware may be found in a digital media lab, what kinds of
services, partnerships, and programs are best suited to a digital media
lab environment; and how different libraries approach managing and
funding a digital media lab.
