What is this site?
This is an online learning platform managed by the Continuing Education and Consulting team for the Library Development & Networking Division of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. It houses online courses and other learning resources created for the benefit of library workers.
Who can use it?
Anyone in the library field is welcome, however some resources and online courses may have a Texas focus or may be restricted to Texas library workers.
Is there a fee?
No. All resources are free of charge. This site and the many of its resources have been funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Do I need a user account?
No, you will not need a user account to access most of the resources. We have intentionally provided guest access to as much of the content as possible.
However, if you need to receive a completion certificate for any of the courses, log in with your user account and ensure that you are enrolled in those courses before completing any course activities. (Don't have an account? Click here to create one.)
How do I earn a completion certificate?
To earn a completion certificate for courses through this site, log in with your user account and ensure that you are enrolled in those courses before completing any course activities. Course completion certificates will list the name of the course, your name, the date you received the certificate, and the number of CE (continuing education) hours earned.
Please note that CE hours correspond to the estimated number of contact hours spent completing the activity and are not the same as CEUs. All CE hours earned through courses completed on this site are recognized by the Texas State Library & Archives Commission as counting toward the yearly continuing education requirement for accreditation of Texas public libraries. It is your responsibility to check with your governing body or employer to ensure that these CE hours will count toward any other continuing education or professional development requirements.
I did not receive the confirmation email for my user account registration for this site. How do I proceed?
It is possible that a firewall at your library or organization blocked the email that confirms your registration on this Online Learning platform. Please double check your spam/junk email folder and if you are certain that you did not receive the confirmation email from us, please email ld@tsl.texas.gov with your full name and the subject line "Online Learning Manual Registration Confirmation". We will manually confirm your registration and then email you to confirm that we have done so. At that point you should be able to log in to your account with the username and password that you created.
I forgot my username or password. What should I do?
If you know your username but not your password, please click on “Forgot Password” in the Login box to change your password and access the site. If you forgot both, we can retrieve your username, but not your password. Please email ld@tsl.texas.gov with your full name, a good contact phone number and email address, and the subject line "Online Learning Forgot Username" and we will contact you to provide assistance.
I have an accessibility issue with something on this site. What should I do?
